So, Capdown split up, but let’s not dwell on that. Let’s relive their career. I was but a youth when I first saw Capdown, and admittedly I wasn’t overly impressed. But then the sax kicked in, and the politically charged sounds of Capitalist Downfall made the walls of the Vic Inn rattle, and I was hooked.
Over the years, the band toured relentlessly, progressing from small but spectaculer shows with bands such as Link 80, to massively monstrous shows like those at Reading Festival. They released three great albums and are responsible for some of the best live shows in recent years.
Capdown were capable of releasing more energy than a Redbull factory and inspired many people to get off their arses and, become concious of the society that they lived in. They will be missed!
Through their ten years, I’ve managed to catch a few shows and take the odd photo, from their early days slogging the Uk Underground to their Final Tour. So stick on a Capdown album and enjoy the photos.
Capdown @ the Vic (Date Unknown)
I don’t remember what show this is, but I think it’s possibly the show with Lightyear, Five Knuckle & Link 80. If it is, it was one of the best shows ever.
Capdown @ Holidays in the Sun, 2001 (or 2002…who knows?)
This show was made memorable by the naked invasion of Lightyear, and the fact that Citizen Fish had to play a really long and drawn out extended set cause Capdown were really late. Watching any band for two hours gets a little painful! There’s more pictures somewhere…maybe the Punk Monkey will find them.
Capdown @ Wasted Festival, 2006
Capdown played at 1am, after Leftover Crack. They put on a good show even if everyone was too tired to dance.
Capdown @ Barfly, Birmingham (26/11/06)
King Blues and Capdown in one show? Nuff Said.
